MISSION STATEMENT: MOVE International seeks to improve the overall quality of life for people with disabilities and for the people who care for them, regardless of age or cause of disability. MOVE International promotes fuller participation in home, school, work and community life to encourage the dignity and hope such participation brings to each individual.
The mission statement is founded in the belief that the ability to move is the first foundation stone in building personal dignity.
The MOVE Program originated in the 1980s in the Kern County Superintendent of Schools, Bakersfield, California. The MOVE Program is now used in many school districts and other facilities/organizations throughout the United States and many other nations.

Description of Site:
Chesapeake Care Resources, Inc. (CCR) is a not for profit 501(c)3 human service agency providing residential, day habilitation, respite, health, transportation, and social/recreational programs/services for adults with a disability. The service coverage area includes Cecil and Harford Counties in Maryland and New Castle County in Delaware.
Chesapeake Care Resources believes the service delivery system is driven by individual choice and strives to provide services reflecting this philosophy.
CCR’s Day Habilitation Program is licensed to serve up to 110 individuals with multiple disabilities. Privileged to be the first MOVE for adults Model site in the United States and the World, the focus of the program is on mobility opportunities motivated thru a varied and exciting range of activities reflecting individual choice. The program incorporates an array of interests including cooking, art, music, and recreation. An emphasis on community is fostered by a multitude of opportunities and activities. In addition, daily living skills are cultivated and enhanced using assistive technology. Also offered is a state of the art Snoezelen Room for total sensory stimulation, The Butterfly Salon for personal beauty, nursing services, and whirlpool hydrotherapy. CCR strives to provide a direct care staff to participant ratio of nearly 1 to 3.

The David Lokey Center combines contemporary services with peaceful surroundings. Since 2000 the center has offered programs providing individuals a creative setting where they can learn craft, horticultural, and life skills in a caring environment that encourages the optimal development of each individual. In addition, individuals are encouraged to participate in community outreach efforts and recreational fun outside the center.
Residential: CCR currently operates 11 homes with the capacity to serve over 40 adults. Trained staff assist the residents with activities of daily living for continued development in a family-like setting.

Take I-95 to Exit 100 (Route 272- Rising Sun/North East)- Turn onto Route 272 towards North East (this will be a right if coming from the Baltimore area; or the 2nd ramp – 100A if coming from the Philadelphia/Wilmington areas)- Turn right at the first traffic light onto Lums Road (at Schroeder’s Deli)- Go to the stop sign and turn left onto Marysville Road- CCR is approximately 500’ on the left (white block building).
