MISSION STATEMENT: MOVE International seeks to improve the overall quality of life for people with disabilities and for the people who care for them, regardless of age or cause of disability. MOVE International promotes fuller participation in home, school, work and community life to encourage the dignity and hope such participation brings to each individual.
The mission statement is founded in the belief that the ability to move is the first foundation stone in building personal dignity.
The MOVE Program originated in the 1980s in the Kern County Superintendent of Schools, Bakersfield, California. The MOVE Program is now used in many school districts and other facilities/organizations throughout the United States and many other nations.

Description of site: The Center for Disability Services is a private non-for profit agency, which provides a wide range of services for individuals with disabilities and their families. The education division operates both preschool and school age services in a variety of locations through out the Capital Region.
Our MOVE program teaches and encourages children with impaired motor skills to use their muscles and inner strength to discover new ways of movement within the education environment. With the assistance of motivation, specialized equipment and trained Center professionals our students maximize their education program by gaining independence.

TRAVELING FROM SOUTH AND WEST:
- Take the NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY (I-87) to EXIT 24
- Take I-90 EAST to EXIT 4 (Route 85, Slingerlands); bear right onto exit
- When entering Route 85, get into the left lane (right lane becomes exit-only)
- Continue straight on Route 85 to KRUMKILL ROAD Exit. At the end of the exit ramp, make a left.
- At the next traffic light, make a right and follow road straight (bearing left around a very winding curve) until you reach a traffic light (you will see a Mobil station on you right). At that light, take a left onto NEW SCOTLAND AVENUE.
- Stay straight on New Scotland Avenue (Maria College on your right)
- At the second traffic light (St. Peter’s Hospital), turn right onto SOUTH MANNING BOULEVARD.
- Just after St. Peter’s Hospital personnel building on right – Center for Disability Services (long, brown building)
- Go straight through the first traffic light (that Center entrance is one-way) to the second entrance, at the intersection of South Manning Boulevard and Hackett Boulevard; make a right into the parking lot.
TRAVELING FROM THE EAST:
Vermont/Troy via 787:
- As you approach Albany, take 787 SOUTH towards Albany, until you reach the exit for I-90 (heading towards Buffalo)
- Stay on I-90 until you reach EXIT 4 (Route 85 – Slingerlands).
- Follow the directions for "TRAVELING FROM SOUTH & WEST."
OR:
From New England and Berkshire spur of NYS Thruway (via I-90):
- Exit from the NEW YORK THRUWAY/BERKSHIRE SPUR at EXIT B-1.
- This will take you directly onto 1-90 WESTBOUND (towards Albany),
- Follow I-90 to EXIT 4 (Route 85 – Slingerlands) (you will pass the city of Albany on your left).
- Follow the directions notes in "TRAVELING FROM SOUTH & WEST."
TRAVELING FROM SOUTH AND WEST:
- Take the NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY To EXIT 24
