June 2008 Training Opportunities
MOVE International will hold its eleventh annual MOVE Trainings/Events sessions June 25-28, 2008 at the Kern County Supt. of Schools Office in Bakersfield, California, USA. Registration information (go to the "link" above).
Types of MOVE Training Opportunities
MOVE International as an organization does not provide direct services to
children and adults with severe disabilities. Instead, MOVE International provides
training to families, care providers, and professionals who in turn work directly
with children and adults with severe disabilities. This greatly increases the
number of clients who are impacted by MOVE International. MOVE International
offers several types of MOVE Training Opportunities.
ARRANGING A MOVE TRAINING AT YOUR SITE OR IN YOUR LOCAL AREA
One-Day Basic Provider Training Program
Cost: $2,000 plus trainer's expenses for the first 25 people in attendance,
$75 for each additional attendee.
A MOVE International Trainer® will explain the six steps of using the MOVE
Curriculum. The use of equipment, if available, will be demonstrated. Upon successful
completion of this training, attendees are certified as MOVE Basic Providers,
but ARE NOT certified to teach and certify others on the use of MOVE. People
who have attended this training should feel confident about starting to use
the MOVE Program.
Two-Day Basic Provider Training Program
Cost: $2,500 plus trainer's expenses for the first 25 people in attendance,
$75 for each additional attendee.
The Two-Day Basic Provider Training Program includes the same information as
the One-Day Training Program, but allows for more practice and hands-on experience.
Upon successful completion of this training, attendees are certified as MOVE
Basic Providers, but ARE NOT certified to teach and certify others on the use
of MOVE.
Two-Day MOVE for Adults Provider Training Program and One-Day Follow-Up MOVE for Adults Provider Training
Cost: $3,900 plus trainer's expenses for the first 50 people in attendance,
$50 for each additional attendee. An additional one-day follow-up training
is also conducted at a later time following the initial two-day training.
The MOVE for Adults Provider Training Program is new in 2007. Upon successful completion of this training, attendees are certified as MOVE for Adults Providers, but ARE NOT certified to teach and certify others on the use of the MOVE Program for Adults.
MOVE Clinics
Sites that host a MOVE International Basic Provider training may wish to invite
the MOVE International Trainer® back in about a year to help with specific
issues faced by staff as they work with the MOVE Program. MOVE International
is offering this clinic at a reduced fee of $1000 plus the trainer's expenses
for a one-day consultation. Please call MOVE International toll free (800-397-6683)
for more information.
These follow-up clinics are individualized to meet your particular needs. Problem
solving, teaching techniques, and answers to specific questions are provided.
MOVE International works as part of your team to help find solutions to any
challenges you are having with your students/clients regarding the MOVE Program.
Who should attend MOVE Training?
MOVE is based on a team approach. Adults involved in the life of a person with
disabilities will benefit from attending a training session. Typically, participants
include parents, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists,
educators, paraprofessionals, administrators, and nursing staff.
Recommended Equipment/Materials
The MOVE Curriculum and the following equipment are recommended for demonstration
purposes: Dynamic Stander, Advancement Chair (new) and Pacer gait trainer. Handouts are provided by MOVE.
The MOVE Curriculum and the MOVE Assessment Profile are not included as training
materials. However, those attending the training session(s) will be offered
a special price on these materials, which is effective for up to 30 days after
the training.
Presentation Equipment Requirements
VCR, TV, table, podium, overhead projector and screen. A microphone is optional.
