training2: MOVE Training"June 2010 Training Opportunities"
MOVE International will hold its thirteenth annual MOVE Trainings/Events sessions June, 2010 (specific June dates to be announced) at the Kern County Supt. of Schools Office in Bakersfield, California, USA.

Types of MOVE Training Opportunities

MOVE International as an organization does not provide direct services to children and adults with severe disabilities. Instead, MOVE International provides training to families, care providers, and professionals who in turn work directly with children and adults with severe disabilities. This greatly increases the number of clients who are impacted by MOVE International. MOVE International offers several types of MOVE Training Opportunities (see following descriptions).

ARRANGING A MOVE TRAINING IN YOUR LOCAL AREA

Two-Day Basic Provider Training Program (for children)

Cost: $2,900 plus trainer's expenses for the first 25 people in attendance, $75 for each additional attendee.

Basic Provider training is an introductory course on how to use the MOVE Program and Curriculum. Course objectives are: 1) To learn how to determine eligibility for the MOVE Program, 2) To understand the six steps of the MOVE Program and how to use the MOVE Curriculum and Assessment Profile, 3) To learn how to test and evaluate students/clinets in order to design an individualized program for developing mobility skills for more active involvement and participation in the home and community, and 4) To learn how to use equipment and common furniture as instructional tools. This training also allows attendees to practice using the MOVE Program with students/ clients.

Upon successful completion of this training, attendees are certified to use the MOVE Program and Curriculum as MOVE Basic Providers, but ARE NOT certified to teach and certify others as MOVE Basic Providers.

Contact the MOVE office at (800) 397-MOVE (6683) for information on scheduling a two-day MOVE for Children Basic Provider Training. See also above June 2009 Training Opportunities for the June 24-25, 2009 Basic Provider training in Bakersfield, CA.

Two-Day MOVE for Adults Provider Training Program and One-Day Follow-Up MOVE for Adults Provider Training

Cost: $3,900 plus trainer's expenses for the first 50 people in attendance, $50 for each additional attendee. An additional one-day follow-up training is also conducted at a later time following the initial two-day training.

MOVE for Adults Provider training is an introductory course on how to use the MOVE for Adults Program and MOVE Assessment and Program Profile for Adults. Course objectives are similar to the above description for the Two Day Basic Provider training for children.

Upon successful completion of this training, attendees are certified as MOVE for Adults  Providers, but ARE NOT certified to teach and certify others as MOVE for Adults  Providers.

Contact the MOVE office at (800) 397-MOVE (6683) for information on scheduling a two-day MOVE for Adults Provider Training with the one-day follow-up MOVE for Adults  Provider Training.

MOVE Clinics (for children or adults)

Cost: $1,000 for one day plus trainer's expenses. No restriction on the number of people in attendance.

MOVE Clinics are available to all "Basic Provider/Adult Provider trained" sites. MOVE Clinics provide follow up or refresher training to address specific issues and questions raised since the initial Basic Provider/Adult Provider training conducted at the site. These follow-up clinics are individualized to focus on the particular needs of the site, i.e. problem solving, equipment, assessments, etc. The MOVE trainer sent by MOVE International for the clinic works as part of the site's team to help find solutions to challenges regarding use of the MOVE Program.

Contact the MOVE office at (800) 397-MOVE (6683) for information on scheduling a MOVE Clinic.

Who should attend the above MOVE Trainings/Clincs?

MOVE is based on a team approach. Typically, participants include parents, guardians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, educators, program directors, paraprofessionals, administrators, nursing staff and/or any other personnel deemed appropriate to attend.
